Mission

The Destino Foundation is a voluntary non-profit organisation that initiates small scale projects worldwide and supports progression of child welfare.

Background

We have been donors for many years for a variety of well-known Charity Organisations without actually knowing how our money is being spent and if it is utilised on the things we really support.  In 2006, one of our founders was a voluntary worker in Oxaca in Mexico working with street children and families.  One of the volunteers’ tasks was to recruit sponsors.  It became apparent that when potential sponsors were informed of the destination of their donations they were reluctant to cooperate.  Eventually we received donations from private individuals as well as companies.  The donations included:
Purchasing and installing an ecological toilet in an orphanage;
Financing a couple of operations and physiotherapy for 2 girls aged 10 and 11;
Providing new shoes and clothes for a number of families;
Providing school books and school fees.

It was during this period that we came up with the idea to establish our own foundation.
On the 18th May 2009, after many highs and lows, the Destino Foundation was born.
