Milestones

Before the Destino Foundation was officially established on the 18th May 2009, we had already achieved a number of things. Below is a short overview of all our milestones:

Operation for Karina and Azucena
Karina was born with short Achilles tendons which meant she could hardly walk and therefore could not attend school. Azucena was hit by a car while playing outside and needed an operation on her hip.  Both of these operations were sponsored by us.

Ecological Toilet for Tlallixtac
There are many problems with the water supply at an orphanage in a village near Oaxaca. By installing an ecological toilet the children were less dependent on the local water provisions.

Shoes for an orphanage in Tlallixtac
We purchased all sorts of shoes, from sports shoes down to slippers, for the children who barely owned shoes.  For many children this was the first time they had ever owned brand new shoes.

Stereo System for Casa de Canica
We supplied a stereo system for a girls’ orphanage.  Up until then the orphanage had no music facilities even though many of the girls loved to sing and dance. 

Othopedic Footwear for Karina
After an operation Katrina needed to wear special tailor-made shoes for a year which we supplied.

Physiotherapy for Azucena
Azucena could hardly walk after the operation and needed 6 months of physiotherapy.  After receiving physiotherapy Azucena had no more problems walking.

School Fees and School Uniforms for 2 Families in Oaxaca
Many families cannot afford Euro 15 per child for school enrolment fees plus the cost of school uniforms which are compulsory.  This means their children cannot attend school. We helped 2 families.

Clothing Collection
We were able to make many families happy by supplying clothes and toys we collected which were delivered by people visiting from Holland.

Psychologist and Speech Therapy
We managed to sponsor the costs for two children to attend a psychologist and speech therapist. Aide, a 9 year old girl, has a serious speech problem and her brother Wilbert who has bad burns on his face was advised to get psychological help.
